Sidewalks Are for Everyone

08/.14/.08

We all like to enjoy our public spaces such as sidewalks, and some of us have different challenges to navigate. People with disabilities live in all communities and are out and about; going to the store, to work, school or meeting friends for coffee. Sidewalks are for all pedestrians and so shouldn't be used for parking cars or cluttered with carelessly placed chairs and tables in front of sidewalk cafes.

The LightHouse recently launched a pedestrian safety awareness campaign to deliver this message. Check out the "Sidewalks Are for Everyone" PSA on YouTube. (Click on the "More From: LFTBSF" link to hear versions narrated in Spanish and Mandarin). Also, the poster was re-printed in the 2008 voter information guide published by the San Francisco Department of Elections.

Funding was provided by a mini-grant from the San Francisco Dept. of Public Health.
