Adult Education & Recreation
If you like arts and crafts, yoga, martial arts, dancing, bingo, gardening, singing alone or with others, trips to Reno or day trips in the City, talking and eating with friends – the Adult Ed/Rec is a place for you.

The Adult Education and Recreation Program is designed to promote active living and life long learning by offering opportunities for education and recreation to adults of any age. Programs are accessible for the working age adult and the active senior who are blind or visually impaired. Programs take place at the LightHouse or within the community.
Activities and Classes
Day Program
The Adult Education and Recreation Day Program is made up of a wide range of activities and classes. Though there are no age restrictions, the program caters to older adults in San Francisco and features two congregate hot lunches each week. Whether you are new to vision loss yourself, or have a friend or family member losing their vision the program can help you stay active while learning that there are others going through similar experiences. For a schedule of activities and classes, see the Program Guide or contact Adult Education Recreation Coordinator, Molly Irish at (415) 694-7320 or mpearson@lighthouse-sf.org
Evening and Weekend Program
Do you need a break from the daily routine? The Evening and Weekend program offers a variety of fun, social activities ranging from writing workshops to tandem biking around the Bay Area. Groups attend concerts, hikes, and other special events. Our events, programs and classes can be found at LightHouse Events.
The Evening and Weekend Program activities and events, are held “after hours” to cater to individuals who cannot attend activities during the day.
If you have more questions, or want to get involved with the Evening and Weekend Program, contact Phillip Kum at (415) 694-7372 or pkum@lighthouse-sf.org
In the Community
The Adult Education and Recreation Program offers excursions and special events throughout the year. In cooperation with the San Francisco Parks and Recreation Department, there is a weekly gardening class. Monthly bingo and dances are always popular! An overnight trip to Reno is held annually and an annual picnic and a holiday party are hosted by the Elks Club.
